Cont From Lisa Kellogg So now we are homeless and need to have the truck unloaded and returned and we have 3 kids and 3 dogs. We tried to stay in hotels, we were telling Scott we need a place to live, and he said they are going as fast as they could. But every time we came to the house over several days, they were outside smoking and napping in the yard. Scott was never onsite making sure the work was quality work and done correctly. The first day we came and walked in they had pulled out the snack bar, he didn’t want to pay for a new counter. We wanted it there, but then again don’t ask the homeowners what they want. We walked thru the house an found out that there was no prep done on the walls, they had used spray paint on the cupboards, they took out 3 inch molding and put back in 2 inch. They only replaced the molding in the kitchen and the bathrooms, left it off the living room and hallways that is what Scott told them to do, he said it was too much money to finish it. Where they did put molding we have unfinished wood, they didn’t paint it, didn’t miter the corners. There is lines where the old molding was, they didn’t paint the molding its white while the walls are eggs shell, the interior doors are too short for the frames, we have a room with 4 inches above the floor, door handles were screwed on the outside of the handle to hold it on and up, no new counter tops in the bathrooms, or sinks. They pulled up the kitchen sink and didn’t even caulk it when they set it back, no new faucets in the kitchen and bathrooms, toilets pulled up and no new wax rings used just put it back on the same ones. We were told the bathrooms had wood laminate floors, only for us to find out they are pull and stick tiles, linoleum is what we got. We were told we had new carpet, but the scraps they left in the closet are used carpet. I am vacuuming up a half canister of dirt and dust every time I vacuum. We pulled the carpet back and its old padding not new. The carpet installer also didn’t double tuck the edges where the carpet meets the other flooring, we were walking on nails, and I asked Scott. He said let me talk to my installer, then he told me the installer said take a hammer and hammer the nails down? We have had carpet many time before and never stepped on a nail, or have we ever been told to hammer the nails down. It’s an installer problem, come and fix it. There were broken windows, and only 2 out of 8 windows has screens, Scott told us he would replace the windows and make sure all the windows had working screens. Every time I would ask him about the windows he would say the same thing, I am going to have to get creative with the windows? I guess that means he isn’t going to do anything. We had windows that were taped to hold it in the frame, glass that would just fall out. We have now replaced all the windows. They painted the outside of the house, and we were to get new skirting, only problem is he had another guy here doing the painting, he did an ok job, but the skirting he didn’t care about, so since the new skirting came with new tracking it would make sense to install the new tracking, but not Troy. He didn’t replace a track, we know because he left all the tracking and extra pieces when he took off, to get out of here, instead of asking if we were happy or if there was anything else.

We moved from Utah to Colorado Springs in Oct 2016, we found a company named ZINC homes. Our biggest and first mistake. We contacted their contact named Scott Smith. I talked to him on the phone from Utah for quite some time. I explained our situation and how we were moving to the area and we needed to find a home. He told us he had this manufactured home that he had bought for $29,000.00 and would sell it for that as is price or if you choose to have it remodeled then it would sell for $44,900.00. We wanted to do the remodel. We talked about the timeframe and we didn’t have a lot of time. Scott is very good at dragging his feet. He told us I don’t know about doing this sell long distance, he didn’t want to get screwed, but we were the ones that got screwed. We told him we were serious buyers, everything he asked us to do we did, and we did it the same day or next day. We wanted him to take us serious. Things seemed to going well, until Scott decided to drop the earnest money he needed to have to continue the process. For weeks we hadn’t heard a word about it. We had sold our home in Utah and we had a deadline to be out and in Colorado and settled to start our jobs and kids in school. When we were asked for double the earnest money as they normally ask for, we wired it the next day. We had filled out all of our paperwork, because they do in house financing, but you would never know that since they have a bunch of people working their loans. We were asked to provide different forms filled out by employers, previous mortgage company, banks. We did it all. Provided bank statements, notarized forms, no questions asked. We were told everything was approved, then a couple days later we were told it was pre-approved. We still were waiting final approval. We were talking to Scott Smith daily most days several times a day, he said he had his crew working fulltime on the house so it would be ready. We had a moving truck with everything we owned and our family and pets. We pulled into Colorado Springs and went to the house where we found homeless people that was his “Crew” living in our house. Not only staying, but living. They had items in the shower and bathroom, clothes, food in the fridge. We explained to Scott that it wasn’t ok. He told us to tell them they couldn’t stay. We didn’t hire them it should have come from the person that hired them and allowed them to live here. They were also smoking in our house, with new carpet and new paint, we have kids with asthma, and we talked to Scott again, he told us to tell them to stop, it was our house. The day we moved in the homeless crew was here, trying to clean, we finally told them to finish up and stop cleaning we wanted them to leave. They were trying to clean the stove, fridge, and bathroom. We wanted to replace appliances so they didn’t need to be cleaned cont 2nd part next review.
